About
Please read on to find out a little more about me, my background, and most importantly my training ethos.
Having always had a passion for exercise and outdoor life, becoming a Personal Trainer seemed like an ideal career choice. Having experienced first-hand the physical, mental and social benefits of a healthy lifestyle, I wanted to pass these benefits on and help others achieve their goals.
After school I embarked on a College Diploma aimed at entry to the Armed Forces or Services, and this is where I furthered my passion for exercise. The course had us competing in sport and physical exercise every day, and it wasn't long before I was Captain of the Rugby 2nds, representing the college across the UK at Distance running and Orienteering, all the while pursuing a love of the outdoors with mountain hiking/biking and climbing.
Wishing to pursue my love of Sport and the outdoors while furthering my knowledge of physiology and exercise, I decided to undertake a Sport and Exercise Science Degree at the University of Wales, Bangor.
After graduating I pursued a career in fitness and have since held a variety of roles (fitness instructor, class instructor, personal trainer, nutritional course leader, and managerial roles) in gyms around the Petersfield area, and most recently working for the University of Portsmouth Sport and Recreation Department.
Those roles gave me plenty of experience and qualifications within the fitness industry, but not enough time doing what I love best; working with people helping them get the most out of training. So I decided to go it alone as a Personal Trainer and haven't looked back since!
Fitness and health is a constantly evolving world, with new scientific developments and training methods appearing seemingly constantly. My role is to stay on top of these developments, assess and implement them accordingly, and relay the benefits to you. I stay abreast of all the latest developments/training styles and sift the good from the bad giving you only the right training and advice.
Training to me is everything. Why wouldn't you want to be at your best and feel at your peak?
I am passionate about the benefits of the right exercise and nutrition, and genuinely enjoy watching someone start to feel and see these benefits.
And training can be whatever you want it to be. Physical Fitness comes in many forms; Strength, Speed, Stamina, Flexibility to name 4 well-known components. But fitness and health go way deeper than that.
Every client is an individual. For starters we all have unique bodies and needs, and what works for some, may not work for another. Finding the right exercise programme for you takes careful consideration of your physical attributes, overall goals, and likes/dislikes. Then there's the individual response to exercise, again often varied between individuals. You are a unique person, and your current body is a culmination of all the previous diet/exercise/lifestyle factors you lay before it.
Therefore careful consideration is required to help you achieve your ideal body.
Luckily fitness and health has been practiced for millennia, and we have thousands (if not millions) of different ways to train these days. As a result training doesn't have to involve iron weights and 10mile runs, or mindless gym routines and pavement-plodding. There's a multitude of fun, stimulating, challenging, and most importantly rewarding training modes out there and I can help you experience them all.
I'll help you embrace and explore the concept of a healthy lifestyle, so you can gain real results and feel fitter and healthier than ever before.
